What should be included in the Demo?
At the demo stage, we would like to consider your pronunciation, image, body language and passion of reading for kids.
Do I need to make a self-introduction during the demo video?
No, you don't need to. If successfully, you will be given the chance to introduce yourself during the following interview stage.
I don't want to show myself to the public. Can I do an audio demo instead?
I am sorry that we only accept video demo as we would like to see your body language and how you read the story. Your demo video will not be released to the public before your permission.
I can not read the whole story within 1 min. What should I do?
No worries, you can read part of the story. It is enough for us to consider.
I can't use the link to upload my demo. What should I do?
If you have problems in uploading, please send your demo as an attachment directly to email@example.com via email. Please double check your attachment as it may be removed automatically by your mail system.
Also, you can upload the demo into youtube, and email us the link to access.
Where does the interview take place? How long is the interview?
The interview will be conducted via skype and our online platform, which normally takes 45 minutes. Please be online at least 10mins earlier before the interview starts, so that you have time to set the platform.
Can I use pad or smart phone for interview?
I'm sorry that our online platform only works on PC/laptop in Windows system, and Macbook with camera and microphone.
When can I have the result?
Due to the high volume of applications, we will try our best to let you know the result within 7 working days. However if you do not hear from us within 7 working days, please contact us at WhereAMI@chel-cedu.uk.
How many students I am going to teach in one session?
The session we provided is an one vs one private session so that we can make sure each student can get the full attention from the tutor.
Do you offer any training session for this job?
Yes, we will provide online training after you passed interview, which benefits you for giving better online sessions and interacting with kids through online platform.
Do I have to buy props and teaching tools for this job?
No, it is not required to, however we do encourage you to be creative with your sessions. You can use anything that already available with you as props and tools to make your sessions different!
Do you provide the material for sessions?
Yes, we will provide you all the books and lesson plan in digital version. However we suggest our tutors to be fully prepared before the session so that you can show the best of yourself and interact with the student more confidently.
How long is each session?
Each lesson takes 30 mins.
What is the suggesting peak hours for teacher to be available?
Students are mostly available at Beijing Time 5pm - 9pm on weekdays and 8am - 9pm on weekends. Due to the time difference, we suggest our teachers to be available at the above peak hours.
Is there a maximum number of teaching hours?
No, we don't limit the teaching hours for our teachers. If you are able to attract more booking with you, you can teach as much as you can.
It is worth mentioned, parents and kids would like to try several new teachers to see the difference within the starting period and then stick to the one they love best. We are unable to guarantee a steady stream of lessons for our teachers.
What's the pay rate?
The starting pay rate range from £8 to £11 depending on your 1)degree qualification, 2)teaching/working experience with kids, 3)interview and 4)demo class performance.
How long is the contract? How can I get a pay raise?
The initial contract lasts for 6 months. Your pay rate will be reviewed at the end of your contract regarding with 1)attendance, 2)feedback from students, 3)booking rate, 4)lesson preparation and 5)available time.
